MONK'S CALENDAR
"The London Calendar" was started by W. Monk in 1903. Every year something in the order of one hundred copies were printed. Today the calendars are therefore rare and sought after. Each calendar
carries conventional calendar text but also an original print. For most of
its existence the prints have been etchings; latterly they have been
aquatints.
JASON HICKLIN - YEAR 2003
The year 2003 calendar will be the third produced by Jason Hicklin, R.E., who succeeded Antony Dyson.
ARTICLES BY RALPH HYDE
This website was originally set up to complement articles by Ralph Hyde in the June 2000 issue of Print Quarterly (pages 132-147) and an earlier one in the 13th January issue of Country Life featuring Anthony Dyson and
the printing of the first proofs of the year 2000 calendar. This site complemented those articles by providing access to all the images, which is impractical in the printed article itself. At the time the two articles were originally published there appeared to be no successor to Tony Dyson and the year 2000 calendar might have been the last.

INDEX OF CALENDARS AND IMAGES
Below is a complete list of all years. Click as indicated to access the image of each plate
and the larger image. The images are
retrieved from the Motco Enterprises Limited database, and were photographed from the collection of Jonathan Gestetner, of Marlborough Rare Books, and the more recent ones owned by Motco.
The "publication line" quoted for each calendar is that on the one in Jonathan Gestetner's collection. There is another
complete collection in the Print Room of the (London) Guildhall Library. In some cases these have a different
"publication line" with an alternative address. There are at least two additional issues of the calendar in the form of
advertisements, in 1909 with a plate of St Paul's from Bankside, for John Batt & Co, London Ltd. and the other in 1914 with a plate of
King William Street, E.C., for London Life Association Ltd. These are not at this stage in this database, but are in the
(London) Guildhall Library collection.
